About Us
We are an American family who has fallen in love with Ecuador. Lynn and I first came to Ecuador in 2005 to visit the Galapagos.
In 2006, Tom returned to Ecuador to carry out a large-scale water quality sampling project in the upper Pastaza River Basin which allowed him to explore much of Ecuador's natural beauty in the highlands.
Lynn was working on her environmental engineering research in Peru at the time...
and so we decided to meet up for a couple of weeks to explore coastal Ecuador.
We were quickly taken by the tranquility, the laid-back people and lifestyle, the tasty seafood.
We ended up in the town of Crucita so Tom could do some paragliding. He flew on the soft coastal breeze for a couple of hours and when he landed, announced that we should look for property.
Within 48 hours we had purchased our first Ecuadorian beach house!
At that time, we were both in graduate school completing our doctorates at the University of Florida so we did not have the opportunity to return to coastal Ecuador until 2008.
After some travels, a brief flirtation with a formal academic career, and many adventures while rescuing our sailboat from the cold grips of Chicago...
We landed back in Ecuador... and had our first child, born just outside Quito. Now we have our permanent resident visas and are living full time in Crucita in our thatched roof beach house.
When we are not working on water quality issues in the Oriente...
we find quality beachfront lots and homes along the beautiful stretch of beach between Crucita and Canoa to sell to folks looking for a peaceful place to relax and get away at an affordable price.
Our ultimate vision is to fund our own work focusing on handpicked social and environmental businesses while exploring the world on our sailboat, Hawkswood!
Our goal is to provide value to those who work with us and to drive our profits toward creating sustainable and well-informed management of the world's vital natural resources.
We're off on an adventure.... please join us!
